From The Spirituals to Hip Hop:
A multimedia musical exploration of the history of Black music, Black culture and Black resistance. The lecture is designed to help those who attend gain a better understanding of how Black Music in America has been a weapon in the fight for freedom, justice, and equality. It will show how the social and political climate gave birth to each generation and form of our music from the Spirituals to Jazz to Rock & Roll to Hip Hop.

Hasan Salaam Northwest Tour:
Hasan Salaam is an emcee, educator and community organizer from New Jersey. He will be presenting by himself and with Northwest educator and artist, Walidah Imarisha, on the history of Black music and Black resistance. Hasan will be performing, as well, at many of the events.
